1274 - 1329. King of Scotland and scourge of the English


Joined the Scottish revolt under William Wallace. 1306 crowned King at Scone. Forced to flee following two defeats by English. Returned and had spectacular military success between 1301 and 1314 (notably at Bannockburn). Raided north of England for the following ten years. Treaty of Northampton (1329) forced English acknowledgement of Scottish independence and his own right to the throne.
