Was a musician (still performs with his band The Gonads) before becoming a full-time journalist. Wrote for Sounds magazine before moving to Fleet Street and working for The Sun, The Evening Standard and The Daily Mirror. Stood as a candidate for the English Democrats Party in the 2005 General Election.
