Studied Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. Part of the alternative comedy circuit in the 1980s. Starred in TV series' The Comic Strip Presents and The Young Ones. Co-wrote a number of television programmes including Alexei Sayle’s Stuff and The All New Alexei Sayle Show. Has written several novels and collections of short stories.
