Born 1931 - English art critic.
Studied at the Courtauld Institute of Art. Became art critic of The Evening Standard in 1984 winning many awards including Arts Journalist of the Year in 1994. Began appearing on television in the late 1990s and is well known for his affected manner. Television shows include The Naked Pilgrim and Brian Sewell’s Grand Tour.
