Born 1876. Died 1952 - Scottish novelist and dramatist.

Educated at St John’s College, Cambridge. Awarded the Military Cross during WWI. His early novels included Pip (1907) and A Knight on Wheels (1914). His war books included The First Hundred Thousand (1915) and The Last Million (1918). His best known comedy is Tilly of Bloomsbury (1919). Wrote a number of plays and dramatizations, some of them collaborations with other writers including P G Wodehouse.
