William Langland
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Ledbury, Herefordshire
Born in 1332
Died in 1386

Little if anything is known for certain about William Langland, though it is largely accepted that he was the author of the Vision of William Concerning Piers the Plowman, one of the great milestones in the literary development of English, a work of energy whose poetry varies from the clumsy to the beautiful. It is thought William was a minor cleric born in Ledbury and educated at Malvern, perhaps his bitterness about the lowly position he filled fuelling the anticlericalism that runs through his poem.
