John Lawes
Born in Rothamstead, HertfordshireBorn on 28th of December 1814
Died on 31st of August 1900
Lawes was the father of the chemical fertiliser industry, patenting one product that came out of trails at his Rothamsted Manor home, which today is Rothamsted Experimental Station, the world’s oldest agricultural research facility. Lawes left funds for the work at Rothamsted to continue. He was made an FRS in 1854 and a baronet in 1882.
