BOOK CAMBERWELL HOTELS

Ida Lupino
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Camberwell, London
Born on 4th of February 1918
Died on 3rd of August 1995

Ida Lupino came from a great and distinguished theatrical dynasty, but she probably proved to be its finest member. She appeared in several British films in the 1930s before a move to Hollywood came about. In Hollywood she was able to develop her career as a dramatic actress, rather than merely relying on her undoubted beauty. Lupino was multi-talented, at one point even composing orchestral music, and her film work included producing many scripts, directing, and bullying finance out of backers when needs be – The Hitch-Hiker perhaps her finest as director-writer. In later years she made many television appearances.
