Henry Manning
Born in Totteridge, HertfordshireBorn on 15th of July 1808
Died on 14th of January 1892
Manning was educated at Harrow and Balliol College, Oxford, after which he spent a brief period in the Colonial Office before returning to Oxford as a Fellow of Merton, taking Anglican orders. He then began his progression through Anglican ranks, eventually becoming Archdeacon of Chichester, acknowledged as a fine speaker. Always High Church, Manning converted to Catholicism in 1851, and by 1865 was Archbishop of Westminster. He was a driving force behind the construction of Westminster Cathedral.
