Born 1903. Died 1941 during WW11 - English aviator.


Became a pilot in 1929. First woman to fly solo from England to Australia in 1930. Flew to Japan via Moscow and back in 1931. Flew to India in 1934. In 1936 set a new record for a solo flight from London to Cape Town. Joined the Air Transport Auxiliary as pilot in WW2, lost after baling out over the Thames estuary.
