Ian Ramsey
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Bolton, Lancashire
Born on 31st of January 1915
Died on 6th of October 1972

Ramsey was educated at Farnworth Grammar School, winning a scholarship to Cambridge. After graduation he entered Ripon College to study for the Anglican priesthood, serving in the church and as an academic at both Oxford and Cambridge. After various appointments he became Bishop of Durham in 1966. Ramsay as a churchman was known for his work on social responsibility; as an academic for his philosophical writings on religious language, trying to defend the mystical against logical positivist thinkers by taking refuge in the argument that the mystery of god is beyond analysis. So many trees wasted.
