Began his career working for a newspaper in southeast London. Worked for Independent Radio News, ITV Sports and Channel 4 before joining BBC Sport in July 1985. Has presented Sportsnight, Grandstand and Sports Personality of the Year as well as motorsports and golf. Moved to ITV1 in 2006. Has twice won the Royal Television Society's Sports Presenter of the Year award and two BAFTA awards.
