Gok Wan had a hard start in life, as a mixed-race child who was gay and seriously overweight becoming an easy target for bullies. He studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama, but dropped out. When he had sorted out his weight, health and life he became an in-demand fashion writer and consultant, and eventually a TV regular as a presenter of shows on fashion, looks and food among other topics, and often as a panellist on other people’s shows.
