Richard Herring is not as familiar a television face as some of his contemporaries, but is cited as an influence by many of them, and has toured a different comedy show every year since 2004. He came to prominence as part of a double act with Stewart Lee. Herring has also influenced the British comedy scene as a writer and/or editor for shows like On the Hour, Little Britain and Time Gentlemen Please.
