Rod Stewart has one of the most distinctive voices ever to sing pop songs, variously described as gravelly, rasping and soulful. It has served him well, with half of his 62 singles reaching the UK Top 10, six UK #1 albums, and total sales of more than 100 million records. Now famed as a solo artist (and songwriter) he gained recognition with The Faces and before that Long John Baldry. Beyond music he is known as a football fan (of Celtic and Man Utd), an ardent if unlikely railway modeller, and a man with an eye for beautiful blondes, his impressive list of wives and girlfriends including Britt Ekland and Rachel Hunter.
