Former English cricketer

After a failed trial as goalie at QPR he turned his hand to cricket and went on to play for Middlesex from 1975–1998 (captain 1983–1997). He played for England from 1977 to 1995, captaining the national side in twenty-three Test matches between 1986 and 1988. He was awarded an OBE in 1987. Since retirement he has worked as a coach and commentator.
