Trained at RADA. Best known as theatre actor. Performed with Old Vic and Royal Shakespeare Company in 1950s & 60s. Broadway appearances include Anthony and Cleopatra (1951) and King Lear (1964). Films include The Witches (1966), Cry Freedom (1987) and Henry V (1989).
