Born 1923 - Czechoslovakia. Died 1991 - British publisher and politician.

Founded Pergamon Press, company specialising in scientific journals. Labour Mr from 1964 to 1970. Rescued British Printing Corporation from financial collapse in 1980, became the Maxwell Communication Corporation in 1985. Involved in using money taken from pension funds of some his companies. Died mysteriously while at sea on his luxury yacht.
