Born 1933 - English botanist, writer & broadcaster.

Studied botany at Chelsea College of Science and Technology. Senior lecturer of Durham University. Very popular figure on television, career began with Life in Our Sea (1970). Later series include Bellamy on Botany (1972), Bellamy’s Europe (1976) and Bellamy Rides Again (1991-92). His many publications include Bellamy’s New World (1983) and Blooming Bellamy (1993). Awarded the OBE in 1994.
