Born on 29th of November 1627
Died on 17th of January 1705

Born 1627. Died 1705 - English naturalist.

Educated at Cambridge. Toured Europe studying botany and zoology. Devised a classification system accounting for around 18,000 plant species. Elected FRS in 1667. The Ray Society was founded in his memory.
