Made professional debut in The Caucasian Chalk Circle (1957). Stage career includes Twelfth Night, Jumpers, Macbeth, The Misanthrope and Follies. Best known for role in The Avengers as Emma Peel. Other television work includes The House of Brede (1989) and Mother Love (1989), received a BAFTA award. Made DBE in 1994.
