Born 1857 - Almara, Nepal. Died 1932 - British physician and Nobel Prize winner.

Studied medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. Worked out the life cycle of the human malaria parasite. Elected FRS in 1901, knighted in 1911. Also wrote poetry and romances. Awarded 1902 Nobel Prize for physiology or medicine.
