Played for Tottenham Hotspur, Mkddlesbrough, Liverpool and the Italian club Sampdoria. Became player-manager of Rangers. Has managed a number of other clubs including Liverpool, Southampton and Blackburn Rovers. Autobiography No Half Measures published in 1985.
