Completed Baroque paintings for dome of St Paul’s, hall at Blenheim Palace and Painted Hall at Greenwich Hospital. Painted portraits including those of Isaac Newton and Jack Sheppard. Founded a drawing school. Knighted in 1720, became History Painter to George I. Painted ceiling of Queen’s Bedroom at Hampton Court.
