Review of West Mersea by jane chilvers ( mrs ) on December 8th, 2009
After living in WEST MERSEA over a number of years, as a married person & owning several businesses, in Colchester, then living there as a single person also over a number of years i found the ISLAND a very beautiful place with plenty going on over the course of twelve months repeatedly. It is quite a safe place for little children to be brought up, as mine were & also i was a cub leader with plenty of things todo for the cubs. Then my children grew up & moved off the ISLAND to pursue their own lives as it became obvious that there was a lot of drug taking & drinking, to excess going on, on the ISLAND. Most of the local people are '' related '' to each other & they are very nosey, wanting to know '' your '' business & if they can't find it out they would make things up, so a lot of '' tittle tattling '' went on. Being only a small village the people are a small minded bunch. I have moved on myself now & do not live there anymore but i do miss the beauty of the ISLAND, it is unique & the few decent people who live there are a real treasure.
