Review of Keswick by S Lindsay on April 24th, 2009
Well I stayed in the lovely gill head farm and whilst I was there I had a meal at the troutbeck inn. Well what a mistake that turned out to be.
I ordered the lamb which was the most bland and dry peice of meat I have ever tasted. It was absolutely drowned in some horrid gravy sitting on a pile of ok mash.
My wife had the Pate which was also tasteless and very wet.
The veg was also bland
I was disgusted with my kids pizzas. They were of the cheap frozen variety and they wasn't even cooked properly (the cheese hadn't melted!).
When I complained I was treated like a criminal and was made to feel totally uncomfortable. The adult meals were knocked off the bill but I still paid for the kids stuff and got out of there!
I would never eat at the troutbeck inn again and I would seriously discourage anyone from making the same mistake I did. If you know anything about good food and like to enjoy good quality meals then do not visit this place.
The cider was the only thing I enjoyed and that was spoilt by the offence caused by my complaint. Which was polite may I add. Not one sorry for dishing up such rubbish food to me. It was as if it was my fault!

keswick, is a busy, and commercialised town, in cumbria.the people are friendly, and tourist information, situated in the moot hall, is invaluable, to travellers. however, the staff, the food, and the service, we received at the lake road inn, 10 lake road, was appalling, to say the least. , considering it was a monday evening, and the pub was very quiet.we did actually complain to the manager, and was given 2 cups of cold, stewed coffe, as compensation! we are holidaymakers, not regulars, is that the reason for the poor service?
