The worst Hotel we have every stayed in if you are thinking of staying do not it is a night mare

On arrival all seems nice, we then get keys to room 40 which is in the coach house - Wow what a room - The bed is falling apart and the light fittings are not secured to the ceiling - Room very cold and musty - took 20 mins to get hot water !! Spoke to reception - they moved us to room 29 - Wow what a difference - Clean tidy warm and nice !! Staff in the bar were great (Note most of staff are exchange from abroad so are learning English). Great beer too. The food in the dining room was great ! The staff are polite but a little over axious to help (They are always watching you ! which we felt was a little too much - However This hotel is not as bad as the other reviews -yes its in need of some TLC But I'll bet in the warm weather this place is perfect for the couples going for a nice break.. All in all I would give this 4 out of 10

Good Points: The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and polite. Bad Points: The room was badly lit and the water in the shower/bath was cold.It was not easy to fill the kettle with water from the bathroom taps and it had to be put on the floor as there was no near socket. General review: It was very pleasant for just 2 nights

Don't stay at this hotel!! The rooms are unclean with wallpaper peeling off the walls, with dusty skirting bords and the most dated bathroom I have ever seen. Not only that the staff are extreamly rude and unhelpful. Infact we had to stand in reception for 10 minutes to check in!! Don't eat there. The breakfast is inedable that is if you can even find a table in the poxy dining room and many of the guests were complaining of stomach upsets after dining there the previous evening. The village is lovely with great pubs and places to eat but this hotel nots to be shut down or at least inspected by the environmental health.

Good Points: A nice old fashioned hotel in a very quaint village. When we asked to change our room it was done immediately and we received an upgrade. Bad Points: The breakfast was a bit disappointing - there are 2 good butchers in town but the sausages we had were very cheap and nasty. There are also no walk in showers or properly fixed ones above the baths - a bit of a shock in this day and age. General review: We enjoyed our stay - the staff were very pleasant, especially in the restaurant.

Don't be put off after reading some reviews of this Hotel we were a litle concerned but decided to form our own opinion. We loved the place it is full of character and a lovely old building with a beautiful courtyard where we were lucky enough to spend most evenings having lovely weather. A pleasant Bar area and a small comfortable lounge. An indoor pool was a bonus. Yes there is room for improvement in several areas but nothing that put us off, with on old building like this you do not expect modern interiors. The linen both in our bedroom and dining room was spotless, the bedrooms can be quite dark with small windows but again this is the design of the building. The staff were all helpful, there are a lot of foreign staff but all very friendly, pleasant and efficient. The food was excellent with some delicious home made desserts! We had a special offer, which was excellent value, you can usually get these if you look around. The hotel is very conveniently situated in the main street of the little town. Would definately stay again if in the area. Just needs a little TLC which I am sure the owners are aware of.

Good Points: Comfortable characterful room; hotel in very convenient position in town. Food and service of a high standard. Friendly and courteous staff. Excellent bedside lights. Bad Points: Some equipment in room not functioning properly: windows would not stay open, television remote control did not respond and only three channels available. Inconvenient to have no lights in bathroom at night - presumably an energy saving measure, General review: The good points of the hotel greatly outweighed the bad.

Good Points: Delightful atmosphere and staff, who, without exception were obviously very well trained. Hotel clean and comfortable. Bad Points: There was no proper shower over the bath and the bath itself was very small. As my husband is 6ft 4ins, this proved somewhat of a trial! The television did not work properly (we could only get ITV!) - not a problem for us but for some people it would be! We did not mention it at the time - unusual or me! - as to be honest, we forgot! General review: Thoroughly enjoyed it! A very charming hotel in an understated way.

I wish I had read these reviews before booking the Crown and Cushion at a cost of £223 for two 'family' rooms via lastminute.com. I experienced all of the problems of the previous review and more... Although described as a 'classic family room' one of the rooms we were allocated was simply a double room which did not even have enough space to accommodate the travel cot which had brought for our 1 year old baby. The shower in the other room was not working and the hot tap itself was also broken. The restaurant meal we had in the evening was poor value for money - the sardines were obviously cooked from frozen! A fire alarm was accidentally activated at 5am with no apology or explanation by hotel staff the following morning. Something I would expect at a student hall of residence not a 3*hotel. When I registered my complaint with the reception staff on the following morning I was informed that as I had booked through lastminute.com the hotel was not able to make any reimbursement and I was offered no apology for the inconvenience caused. I have since e-mailed my complaint and tried to contact the manager by phone (who did not return my call), but heard nothing back. Next time I will stay in a local travelodge - half the price and ten times better.

We paid £125 for a 'superior family room' for 2 adults and 1 child for one night. On arrival we were informed that "We don't provide room service" which was a little disappointing, as I was looking forward to an indulgent lie in with breakfast in bed, but never mind I was only on holiday. We then made it to our room, that time and taste forgot. Filled with clashing floral patterns (even the bathroom suite could not escape) and cheap random pieces of furniture with no apparent function other than to hinder your movement within the room. The main bed was 'unusual'. It was very low and took up far more space than was necessary thanks to the strange headboard/shelf combination also adorned chintz. The other 'bed' for my son was a sofa bed, with the mattress consisting of a piece of foam, rolled out directly on to the floor. Other irritating features included; an old television with no working remote control and terrible reception, tea/coffee making facilities squeezed in between the TV and wall, so to plug the kettle in you had to crawl under the table whilst trying not bang your head, shower was a mixer tap on a hook which took ages to adjust to a comfortable temperature, the only shelf in the bathroom was fixed at an angle so the glass tumblers(2) kept sliding off, and finally, the complete lack of lighting around the suitcase stand and wardrobe area made the task of emptying suitcase into wardrobe annoying to say the least. Nothing bad so say about the breakfast as we did not manage to eat any. The radio/alarm clock in the room was set at the incorrect time, and so by the time we were ready, the breakfast had already finished 20 or so minutes ago. The experience was so bad, we expected Ruth Watson (from channel 5's 'The hotel Inspector') to come crashing in through our door, but alas no. So in a nutshell, don't bother.

Very disappointed; thought this would be a cosy pub in the cotswolds.We were put in a so called deluxe room in the garden wing. It had no central heating,the wall mounted heaters were not on and we arrived to be faced with a dingy and cold room with a low level, uncomfortable bed. We tried to move but were informed this was a top grade room.Breakfast was a struggle as people queued at the buffet for eggs.Would not stay there again.. does not meet the description.

The room was very nice with a four poster bed and the staff were very helpful. We ate a first class meal in the restaurant in the evening ,but the dessert menu could do with some winter type choices. Sunday morning was another story. Breakfast was a disgusting mess off rubbery stale fried eggs,hash browns which were incapable of being lifted out of the bain marie and the rest of the buffet type breakfast was just as bad. Stay there by all means but avoid breakfast.

Steer well clear. Simply one of the worst value for money rooms i have ever stayed in: - Dirty Curtains - TV was poor quality and didnt recieve any clear channels, remote didnt work - Reading light fell off wall when adjusted - Room was cold, fan heater provided with one leg missing - No shower curtain provided, bathroom like a pool after shower. - Shower wall bracket did not fit shower, so shower would not stay on wall. Breakfast was the only positive point.

A hideous pine four poster bed overfilling a pokey room overlooking the car park - an alcove come broom closet tv-room with nasty chintzy covered couch wedged in the corner - more of a deal-breaker than a romantic get-a-away. Poor quality and poor value for £100 a night!

Delightful DOWNSTAIRS, room No.9 was a different kettle of fish. Definitely below par for the price of £109 per night. Would be ashamed to think that American tourists might think that this is what England has to offer. I had to sleep ON the divet because the bed was so uncomfortable, the curtain was hanging off the rail, the owel rail in the bathroom kept falling off and the shower head didn't fit on the shower hook. The whole room needed refurbishing. The meal in the bar was tasty but a little overcooked and the breakast was 'tired'

The room we booked and received confirmation for was NOT provided. The hot water ran out The food was over-cooked Restuarant staff spoke litle English i.e. did not know what skimmed milk was (although we got some in the end). On complaining, one of the owners refused to admit anything was wrong, would not consider modifying the bill in any way. When the hot water ran out again the second night, the other owner came and saw we were telling the truth and moved us to a better room with hot water - a room the first owner said was not available. On inspecting the second room I was electrocuted by an electric heater, the owner did not even blink! Overall a tired hotel generally with incredibly poor customer service from the owners. We met another couple who complained about not getting the room they booked, the owners threatened to throw them out - we didn't see them the next morning. A complaint is going in to the local authority or H&S Exec about Health & Safety violations

Really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Very clean, good service, extreemly friendly staff. Definatly would recommend this hotel to others, and would return. We were given the room with a four poster bed very which was really nice. Would also recommend the resteurant for an evening meal,(not that there is a lot of choice in Chipping Norton).

As this was our third visit to the C & C we expected the usual top class treatment that we enjoyed in the past. Unfortunately, we found that the waiting staff in the restaurant were not as friendly and helpful as had been and on more that one occasion were quite rude. This was reported and dealt with on the spot, but we did witness more rudeness to other guests afterwards. The accommodation and service at the bar and reception was top class and very comfortable. We love that part of the country and will probably visit again in the future.

Good Points: Location was good for touring the area, staff were friendly and helpful, swimming pool was lovely and the food excellent. We can bring our dog, we would not go on holiday without her! The decking area was an improvement. Bad Points: Some noise from pub opposite. Heating was a little too hot. General Review: We have stayed at this hotel on many occasions so it is difficult to write about what we would like to have known before booking.
