Best rates for a Local Hotel

Good Points: Helpfulness and friendliness of staff. Lighting and location of electrical sockets in room excellent compared to some hotels. Bad Points: The restaurant was a little overpriced for average food. There was a limited Sunday menu which we felt was inadequate, but staff gave us the menus of local takeaways that delivered to the hotel as driving in the area was a little fraught if you didn't know your way around. General review: Overall an excellent hotel for our purposes.

Good Points: well appointed room ...large comforatable bed Bad Points: all ok General review: Having been unsuccessful finding accomadation anywhere in north london, was quite surprised at the value and standard of accomadation at the days inn even though a little further out than intended.

I had researched into this hotel and read the reviews before I booked. I am extremely fussy about where I sleep and cleanliness is paramount. As this hotel is new, it is very modern and very clean. The reception staff were very polite and efficient and I was extremely impressed with the rooms. I had booked 2 rooms with interconnecting doors on the ground floor as I was travelling with my elderly mother. The rooms are huge! They have kingsize beds which can be made into 2 singles, but you can't feel the join in the middle when it's fixed together. The sheets & pillowcases are crisp white cotton, with a white duvet. For my own peace of mind I checked the bed thoroughly and smelled the bedding & towels(yes, I told you I was fussy!)And I am delighted to say that everything was clean & fresh! The bathroom is big with chrome & lots of lights & mirrors with a fantastic power shower! Towels are thick & fluffy & bright white. I requested an iron which was brought immediately with an ironing board. The rooms have air conditioning/hot air which you can contol the temperature yourself. Large windows with net curtains as well as heavy curtains. Telephone, TV with a good choice of satellite channels, kettle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate (no biscuits!).The only downside for me was I had specifically requested the 2 rooms to be at the front of the hotel because at the back there is a train line. But we were put in rooms at the back and there is a very busy line with trains running every few minutes all through the night and day.(I asked to be moved but they said the rooms at the front were full & apologised for the error). As a light sleeper, I got no sleep and at one point counted 8 trains in 10 minutes whooshing by. The noise drove me bloody mad!! I felt groggy & tired the next day and was annoyed that I hadn't been able to enjoy a good night's sleep in such a big comfy bed.(I thought of ear plugs but I wouldn't have heard my alarm clock!). To be fair the hotel is in a good location for travellers as it is right at the side of the M1, so you can't expect peace and quiet, but I would say don't pick the back rooms if train noise bothers you! There is ample free car parking at this hotel and a lovely bar, lounge & restaurant area. I have read reviews from people saying they had trouble finding this hotel...I can't see why as it is a HUGE building smack bang on the side of the M1 motorway! If you are joining the M1 at Junction 1 heading North, you will see it on your left after a couple of miles. It is clearly signposted as 'SERVICES'and there is a slip road leading directly to the hotel. If you over-shoot this, you can exit at the next slip road for the petrol station and drive though to the hotel that way. On exiting, it is clearly marked for re-joining the M1 Northbound or over the bridge to go Southbound. It is also shown in A-Z road maps as 'London Gateway Services'. I paid a special offer Christmas rate of £29 per room...yes per room not per person, which I feel was a fantastic price for this modern, clean, well equipped hotel. I will definitely be staying there again as I have another business meeting in the area soon, and keep my fingers crossed for a good night's sleep next time! Thanks for reading this...enjoy your stay!
