The food is good although htey put chilli in more than you would think. The service is good but they have one tablew too many. That means some poor person - and tonight it was me - ends up sititng in the doorway putting up withthe drafts and people pushing past. I won't be going again.

My partner and I bought a copy of Simon Rimmer's The Accidental Vegetarian and have enjoyed many lovely dinners from its pages. It is beautifully photographed and the recipes imaginative and clearly explained. So we were very hopeful of a superb gourmet dinner at Greens Restaurant. Our first impressions were a bit blighted - first by the pounding music in the background, which was more reminiscent of a club frequented by twenty-somethings than a relaxed gourmet restaurant, and second by the offering of bread and olive oil. The bread, which we assume was homemade, was a grainy variety and far too strong in flavour to be eaten in combination with the olive oil, which was far too mild, actually flavourless. We'd definitely recommend they think again. Despite these disappointments, the meal itself was a complete joy. Simple dishes cooked absolutely brilliantly - totally spot on - gorgeous, perfect mix of flavours and textures. My partner felt the brulee on the creme brulee was slightly too burnt - but I like a bit of burnt to go with the sweet creme and the creme was pretty much a 10 out of 10. The pecan and roquefort cheesecake to start - genius and will make it at home - plus delicious gnocchi and roulade to follow. Highly recommended. The wine list, especially by the glass, could be more imaginative and extensive. So, it might be an 8 out of 10, but I would still seriously recommend it to veggies looking for a really good meal in Didsbury.
