Disappointing experience from start to finish. Had booked table on strength of large number of very good reviews. Had to wait 10 mins to begin with to have menu to look at as only one member of staff on duty who was having to welcome guests, take orders, serve meals, clear tables and take payment! Very limited choice on menu, wine list pricey ... house wine cheapest option and these started at £15 a bottle for average merlot. Starter very tasty, which gave us hope for the rest of the evening. However then had a 20 min wait for part of the main course, then had another 5min wait for the other main course order to be served. The hereford beef was lukewarm, and the crispy pork was soggy and running in fat. Needless to say we declined the offer of dessert and coffee, and requested the bill in the hope of beating a hasty retreat .... however, as the credit card machine was not working, and the only front of house member of staff didnt know how to use the alternative means for card payment, we then had another 10min wait, (even though the place was not busy), before the owner/chef appeared to take the payment, no apologies offered and seemed to view the whole thing as a huge joke .... which i'm afraid to say on the showing of this evening is a good description of the food and service on offer at the Three Crowns, Ullingswick.
