Agree entirely with the previous review. A facinating place which seemed completely deserted but for the logging and pheasant activites. The ponds were covered with weed and seemed stagnant in places although there was fresh water running through and we did spot a couple of fish. It had the feeling of a place that was sleeping and needed to wake up.

Having found an entry in Hudsons, and several on line, we arrived to find an estate and property which was virtually derelict and very run down. The free phone number which is published, and also displayed in the car park was not answered. Whilst having a drink in the local pub, we were told that the house is closed. We did return to the car park and went for a walk with the dog, and more people turned up during the afternoon. Paths and tracks are unmaintained, and dangerous in places, and signs damaged and difficult to follow. The only signs of recent activity are logging and forestry work, and what appears to be a new facility for rearing game pheasants.
Dog walkers, serious walkers and mountain bikers should love the rugged terrain and woods - BUT otherwise be prepared to be very dissapointed. It is a cheek to advertise this as a tourist attraction, but then again we paid nothing!
