Sadly this hotel, despite apparent refurbishment requires a great deal more. On arrival the reception area was found to be drab and dull in appearance, which if this is the result of refurbishment then this was a poor attempt. We had booked two family rooms, one smoking and one non-smoking. The non-smoking room was found to be smelling strongly of cigarette smoke, the decor was very dull, fittings were falling off the wall. Our room was willingly changed to the one next door. Showing signs of age with wallpaper falling off the walls, water stains on the roof (as they were in the previous room)this demonstrated that far from being renovated these rooms were tired.Bed linen was very good. Noise levesl from the street kept us awake all night despite the windows and secondary glazing being closed. No fresh air made the room very stuffy and the central heating, which could not be adjusted made the room even hotter. All in all a special occasion for going to Aberdeen was spoiled by the poor accommodation. Had there been availability elsewhere we would certainly have moved.
