After reading many bad reviews I wanted to say how much we enjoyed our overnight spa break booked as a surprise for my 60th birthday, my friend and I had a beautiful room. The pool was lovely with lots of beds to relax on, food was excellent, well presented and plenty of it and a huge choice for breakfast. We booked a massage and were very happy with it, the only thing was I am not sure we would have got the included treatment which was part of the package if we hadn't have chased them up about it. Both of us would go again. Booked by my daughter on last minute.com

My daughter and I visited Greenwoods for a spa day, which we were both looking forward to. The facilities were ok, but we found it very warm everywhere and were quite shocked at the heating being on (considering it was July) in the restaurant. Also you had to come up to the main hotel area to go outside which is a bit awkward as you have to change out of your robes, so I think there should be somewhere downstairs with access to the outside. My daughter had a manicure and pedicure, the nail varnish started to peel off that same evening! She also had a brow wax which was ok. I myself had a manicure, brow wax and eyelash tint. The manicure and eyelash tint was fine, the brow wax was terrible, at this moment in time I have a raw patch on my brow where there was obviously no hair to wax! My skin was very red when it was first done, but I thought that it would calm down later. All in all I am very disappointed and just waiting to see what happens with the skin on my brow which is still extremely sore.

Booked a special offer through Lastminute.com for my daughters 20th birthday. Overnight pamper break. Mixed feelings. Nice room, lovely grounds and hotel. Particularly loved relaxing in the lounge. Food was excellent. Enjoyed the acqua aerobics which was on both days. However, I do agree with other guests that the Elemis treatments are extremely overpriced and not worth the money. Have been blessed with far nicer treatments elsewhere for a half the price charged at Greenwoods. The included treatments were rushed and not very exciting! I think the general problem is the standard of customer care. Therapists were very young and on most occasions when we went into the treatment area they were chatting amongst themselves and seemed to see the clients as a bit of a nuisance if they asked questions. I found this quite offensive in view of the fact we had spent so much on our treatments. After a back massage the therapist came in so quickly, there was no time to relax. There were no further treatments that day so it was clear that she wanted to go home. So in summary. Greenwoods the place is nice - restaurant staff, bar staff great but wouldn't pay for extra treatments again.

I'm lactose-intolerant. I checked BEFORE booking that they could fully cater without providIng just salads and this therefore became part of contract. I barely ate, and dessert was fruit salad. They refused to deduct any money from my bill. I asked them not to charge my credit card with the full amount. They did, fraudulently and in contravention of the Supply of Goods and Services Act. No apology was ever offered, and neither have they provided any compensation. My entire stay was ruined. I would not have booked here if they had been honest and said they couldnt not fully cater for me.

I stayed in this so called spa with 2 friends and we were pushed through our free treatment like being on a conveyer belt. I then paid an over the top price for a treatment and the therapist sniffed and sneezed her way through it NICE, I woke up the next morning with a cold, well OK could not totaly blame the girl but spoke to managment about it saying maybe they should not let the girls work when like that, the outcome was I was taken into the room by 3 managers which turned out to be the owners relatives and they basicly bullied me for complaining and I hadnt even asked for my money back!!!! It was crowded and nasty so save your money for a decent spa.I have since emailed and written and guess what no reply they honestly dont care only for the money. yours totaly sincerely Angie Devonish

Not impressed at all with Greenwoods. Terribly overcrowded with no areas to relax. Treatments with a package are a complete rip off - when I asked if I could choose Elemis products for use in my facial was told that they use their own products!! Even though the facial is Elemis style it is not the genuine thing - they even have the cheek to recommend products from Elemis after the treatment! There were also flies everywhere and some of the robes were dirty. Another guest commented she felt she was at Butlins especially round the pool which was so overcrowded it was a joke. Staff completely useless, unable to deal with the slightest question about products.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY READ ON… We booked this hotel one year in advance of our wedding and booked the attic room (the equivalent of the honeymoon suite) which was fairly expensive but thought it would be a nice treat as we were getting married at the golf club (Crondon Park) next door. We checked into the room after a wonderful wedding on a very hot day in July. We went to use of luxury jacuzzi and there was no hot, or even warm water. We called reception to report this and were joined by someone who ran the taps for half hour before telling us that there was no hot water (genius or what?). We asked for another room. Ten minutes later and no response we called reception again. Shortly after the night porter came up and offered us a SINGLE room! We said we would use the shower in the room at least. When we went to the room we found it to be a double and so to save traipsing back and forth decided to stay in that instead, which was a bog standard room and nothing like what we had expected. By the time we were moved it had been one and a half hours since arriving at the hotel. In the morning my husband and I went to reception and complained – we asked for a refund as a gesture of goodwill from them spoiling our wedding night. There response was unbelievable. The manager said “I’ve been up and there’s hot water now” repeatedly and could not seem to comprehend that this was no use to us. His name is Ben Hales and I would not wish anyone the displeasure of dealing with this heartless man. After a few minutes of him repeating this, my husband started to get a bit angry (as any normal person would) and was thrown out of the hotel. For our inconvenience the hotel offered us the difference back between the amount we had paid and the standard room we had booked and nothing more. I am so upset and disgusted at this so called luxury hotels standards. To top it all, one of our guests had an overflowing toilet and also called reception who tried to charge him for blocking it and the manager was equally responsive. Brides – if you are getting married at Crondon, please do not stay at this hotel. It is worth taking a cab trip to one of the other hotels – please read other reviews of this hotel which back this up.

I went to Greenwoods when I was 7 months pregnant for a treat with my sister. We had a lovely day, the facilities were great. I had a manicure and a pedicure, both of which I was very pleased with. The lunch we had was lovely, it was tasty and well presented. How that other woman could say it was disgusting is beyond me!! Yes, it was expensive but you expect that at a spa really, don't you? We would not hesitate to go back there again.

I visited the hotel with a friend for a spa weekend as her hen night treat. I really wish that I had put the huge amount of money that we spent to better use. The spa was fine - very crowded but nicely equipped. The beauty treatments were adequate if perfunctory and performed by very young and inexperienced staff. However, the hotel was vastly overpriced and the food in the dining room was absolutely disgusting. Horrendously unhealthy and virtually inedible. The service in the restaurant was also appalling. We would have eaten better and more healthily in a Little Chef. I felt so strongly about the money that we had wasted that I wrote a complaints letter to the manager - as did the two ladies checking out ahead of us. It took him 6 weeks and another follow up letter to reply to me when he denied everything that I had said, including that anyone else had complained (we saw then hand the letter to reception) and offered no apology or compensation. I wrote to the owner of the hotel who never bothered to reply. Avoid this place like the plague!
