We (2 adults and a dog) were looking forward to our well-deserved 5-day break at Cotswoldsview Caravan Park in Oxfordshire. The weather forecast was brilliant for all the days we had booked from 19th September until 24th September 2008. The pitches on their website are stated as ‘spacious’ and a picture just confirms this. Their website lets one think that this park is ideal to get some sort of peace, since the school holidays had been over for 2 weeks. . Wrong! After driving for about 3 hours to reach this caravan site, we could not believe what we saw when we just arrived at the reception to call in. We were greeted by sounds of shouting, screaming kids enjoying themselves in a play area right beside the entrance. We called into reception and were then given a pitch number. I had asked if this pitch was further away from this play area and was answered ‘yes’. We drove through the barrier and turned immediately to the right and there it was…our pitch. Right opposite this play area! A corner pitch, which wasn’t spacious at all. There was hardly enough space for our double axle plus porch awning. As there are no space dividers, the family next to us had put up an extra large family tent. In fact, we were squeezed in to a piece of grass although we had booked weeks in advance. After looking at this ‘pitch’, we thought ‘in no way do we stay here!’ We had stayed at caravan parks having play areas and family facilities most of our caravanning times, after the school holidays were over, but this place was just like a circus. All we could do was to leave as quickly as possible after getting our money back. Tents should be in a different area or, if aloud beside caravans, at least mentioned on the website! We were fooled by Cotswoldsview Caravan Park’s website, thinking we arrive on a sort of nice and quiet Caravan park to enjoy our break.
