I visited this park and its craft centre several times in the past 6 years and mostly I enjoyed my visits. The Lake, of course, is always beautiful. The Craft centre and the gardens however, show a lack of maintenance and care, especially the last few years. Craft centre? There hardly is any craft centre. The craftsmen are gone, the nice educational museum "Geogems" has been replaced and is closed for the moment. For a while there has been some hope for the tearoom, but since last year this worsened considerably too. The disappearance of the "Art and Craft" shop will be an important disadvantage for the Hirsel.
It looks like Hirsel Park needs a strong hand to bring it back to some level of attraction again, and I hope at least someone will see the value of this, once beautiful, estate.
