This is my last visit to this crumbling ruin. No joking - despite the date. Today the problem was yet again the boiler in the Leisure Club which, apparently, had been left on all night producing a virtual cauldron in the spa pool where I used to enjoy my twice-weekly swim so much. It was impossible to stay in this furnace for more gthan ten minutes.
Quite often, too, it is so cold - when the boiler has packed up altogether. There have been so many disappointments that recently I cut down to once a week and actually resigned my membership last month, in disgust at just how far standards have fallen.
So many times I have arrived only to be told that the Leisure Club is closed because of a boiler malfunction or shortage of staff. The place is a miserable edifice nowadays. The showers and changing rooms little more than slum-standard - with the result that so many swimmers will not even bother to shower before they enter the pool, a dreadful unhygienic situation. The staff who remain deserve a medal for maintaining their jobs.
Every attempt I have made to obtain compensation for poor facilities and lack of service have been summarily dismissed. Why do these people insist on offering a service that is now so flawed ? Don't go there !
I now belong to a club that is almost twice as expensive and several miles further away but which provides simple human standards and kindness plus fine facilities.
