The decor is as you would expect very Midle Eastern with a imitation brick / castle type theme on the walls and ceiling.
There is a huge number of hubble bubble pipes on show ( which you can smoke at the end of your meal for an hour or so - apple flavour recommened .
We had starters of chicken livers and a spicey potato dish, both were excellent but be warned the spicey potato is quite hot !
You also get a dish of salad type items before anything else....this is quite unusual as it contains a whole courgette, a whole green pepper, lots of carrot slices and some type of pickle ?
For our main courses I had 5 small lamb chops ( grilled I think ) and my wife had baked fish which was even hotter and spiceier than the potato starter but tasted great.
If you want rice or potatoes with your main course you need to order them as a side dish...I didn't so I asked for some more "pitta" style bread ( which is hot - ie warm not spicey ! ).
The service is ok but we did get my wife's main about 3 minutes after mine !
This was a Friday night and it was very busy ( book ahead ! ).
I would recommend the Al- Salam for parties especially as it would be great fun ( hubble bubble pipes etc ! ) By the way the price per haed is quite reasonable on a par with a good Indian.
