I went to Tatu with a group of friends on New Year's Eve - 15 in total. It was without doubt the worst meal I have ever had out in Belfast. The food was terrible, four of the party ended up being very ill. The service was worse - the staff dropped so many dishes that i thought I was at a Greek wedding at one stage and at £65 per head it was an absolute rip off. The management refused to do anything about it. Almost £1000 for a meal that was barely edible is a disgrace and the owners should be deeply ashamed. As for the entertainment, the DJ "forgot" to do a countdown at 12 o'clock. He said the bar man told him the wrong time!! So imagine the scene when you have some half wit who was playing under a TV screen which was showing all the usual images of fireworks going off at Sydney harbour, Big Ben etc with about 100 people shouting at him and pointing to their watches and you have this eejit saying it was only 11.40! I have never seen a crowd wolf wistle a DJ before on a night like that and doubt there was bar, restauarant or club anywhere in Ireland where there wasn't even an acknowledgement of the New Year. The whole evening was a complete shambles from start to finish and the management's incapability to act or to attempt to rectify the very many complaints about food, entertainment, bar service made the situations dramtically worse. I fondly remember the days when Tatu was a great bar. Not any more. Name and address supplied.
