Having lived in Cumbria for many years I was aware of Trotter's Animal World but the publcity I had seen had never really sold it to me. What a mistake! My partner and I went off season, and it was very quiet - we therefore had personal bird of prey demonstrations - Barn Owl, Buzzard, Kestrel etc. The animal collection was plenty to keep us interested all day - red pandas in a tree, ring-tailed lemurs bouncing around,a family of mandrills whose antics we could have watched all day as well as gibbons, meer cats etc etc. There were also rare sheep, goats, zebras, bison, donkeys and a reptile collection. Staff were all pleasant and happy to chat and educate - either in scheduled presentations or when passing; coffee shop offering cakes and sandwiches was small and pleasant. Best place for close up animal photography I've been for years!
