We often eat out at The White Hart Inn Chalfont St Giles and can certainly recommend the food there, being of a very high standard and beautifully presented. I especially like the liver served with red cabbage. The staff are attentive without being too obtrusive. Last month I took my family there and they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially my mother, as Tom Jones the famous singer was also dining there on that evening which made her night!! If you are looking for a place to eat in the Chalfonts area I can highly recommend, The White Hart Inn.

We had lunch at the White Hart having eaten there previously and been very impressed. This time not so, regrettably. The service has initially annoying coming every 2 minutes to see if we had decided then, when we had, not being able to catch anyones eye (only 2 other tables were occupied in the whole place). As a starter I ordered a scallop parcel. When it arrived it was a fish pie with a topping of filo pastry, the pasty was uncooked and the filling was just parsley sauce with a 2 prawns and two scallops cooked so they were the size of cigarette butts. The italian man who served us argued this was a parcel..... I had 3 sausages and mash with caramelised onions for main. The onions were raw and the meal was incredibly salty. My husband's steak was accompanied by chips which were soggy and greasy. We then were charged double for a glass of port. We only had one and it was served in a port glass this apparently is a 'double'. Incredibly disapointing and incredibly expensive. One bottle of wine and worked out a £50 a head. Could not recommend it.

Excellent food, friendly staff and very nice atmosphere. We go here quite regularly and have yet to have a bad meal. Service can be slow sometimes, particularly for the bill to arrive, but if you want to relax and enjoy yourself while you wait for your food, it's a great place to eat, drink or stay. It's a little bit too expensive (for us) to go all the time, but any time for a drink and once or twice a month for a meal is managable.
