Arrived in beautiful Mousehole on the Saturday, looking forward to a long slow evening with my girlfriend and best mate drinking over dinner in the Ship Inn. After reading reviews on the web decided to book a table for dinner. asthetically the pub is beautiful both inside and out, the staff behind the bar were friendly and polite all looked good. We had an hour to kill so with our plastic glasses we soaked up both the ale and atmosphere of the beautiful harbour. Unfortunately thats where our pleasant evening ended. We sat down for dinner, we all took a starter of Crab soup. It had to be the blandest soup I have ever had, i tried to like it, I really did! but it just was the worst soup I have ever had, even the tinned varieties are way better. We struggled to eat half of it before giving up hoping our main courses would be better. They weren't. My girlfriend ordered the 'Special' Sweet Chilli chicken which looked like Uncle Ben made it, tasting incredibly chemical and artificial with a side of boiled rice, a rip off at £9.95. My friend ordered a steak which he struggled to chew and I ordered a steak and ale pie which was average but edible. Service was slow and unresponsive. The Pub was nice, location was perfect unfortunately the food was very disappointing. Hopefully this place will improve, go there for the drinking but avoid the restaurant!!!
