A real gem of a find. Walking in the area is great and Zennor tends to get the reviews. Gurnards is under new ownership. It has not filled the place with masses of tables but wnat a 'standard'. It does NOT have electronics around in the bar or certainly in the eating area(which was a bit of a drawback as we were there during the World Cup). What it does have is character, a great, friendly team and a chef (New Zealander, with energetic kitchen) who understands the value of local produce. Try the fresh fish. I did the locally produced (St Justs) steak which was and well matuered and incredible-not once but a three times during the week. The wines are good and not overpriced the manager knows what to recoomend but we chose the Brouilly.
You must book if you want to walk in and eat. Otherwise try a drink at the bar, talk to the locals and chance your luck.
Go for the food, by far the best around this part of Cornwall.

Warm Welcome and exeptional food at this great gastropub, we were extremly surprised at the stylish yet homely dining room and fantastic menu, locally sourced vegetables and unusual combinations. we really enjoyed the lamb shoulder with lentils and the perfectly cooked sirloin steak! Great beergarden with stunning views, we couldnt fault this place! Warmly recommended!!!
