Very plesant and welcoming. Rooms in the main B&B are adequate, but could benefit from some modernisation. Rooms in the annex are furnished to a high standard and are very nice.
Breakfast would be better if served from 7am rather than 7.30, but very nice full english.

My partner and I stayed one night at the Aylesbray Lodge guesthouse in Cambridge recently (Sep 2006). We were rather disappointed.
The price was £37.50 pppn. If it had cost £25, I would have said it was merely adequate, but it was actually very poor value.
There was a friendly welcome and clean bedding in the room. However, the room was tiny and the wallpaper was dirty and peeling. There was a foot mark half way up the wall ! At breakfast, there was a reluctance to cook a vegetarian alternative to the full English on offer. I’m not sure how they earned their four diamond rating.
It was situated a long way from the centre: about an hour’s walk. It seemed more than the claimed 1.5 miles. Although it is in a fairly nice area, there are some really rough parts around it. I don’t recommend walking home from the centre down Rustat Road at midnight.
