What a fabulous place. The hotel had very recently changed hands and we were a little anxious. We shouldn't have been. Richard, the new owner, made our stay a complete joy. The bedrooms are a little tired but they had already started to refurb them. The food was terrific and all freshly prepared. We were spoilt by the weather and could really enjoy the pretty garden that backs right onto Dartmoor. My wife said I shouldn't send this e mail but rather keep this little gem to ourselves.

I booked here for 3 nights and left after 1. The building is beautiful but a shame about the room I was given. The room looked extremely tired. Poor thin carpet on the floor circa 1980s with a large TV that looked about the same age teetering on a small table in the corner. Later I looked in the bathroom .the sealant was curling off the bath and a dubious brown/black colour, matching the coffee coloured tiles. I didn't want to use it. This bore no relation to their website which I can only assume means there are better rooms. However the next morning I was considering whether I wanted to stay or ask for another room but my mind was made up at Breakfast as I searched through the small packets of cornflakes for some in date - I did find one.
