After driving from Northamptonshire we came across this establishment by chance and how lucky we were. Stayed overnight and enjoyed the Carvery and the breakfast next morning. Staff and all concerned were excellent nothing too much trouble. Room was a bit cold to start with but soon warmed up (our fault for arriving on speck). We highly reccomend this establishment but you need to look out for it as it's well hidden from the main road.

The Countryman is amazing- we were there for only a few hours... but we loved every minute of it. We had a long day of travelling to and from Essex, with a brief visit to Dorset. The time we spent at the countryman was amazing, and we loved the amtomsphere. The staff who worked there when we went were fantastic, lovely people. We have memories associated with this pub, and can't wait to come back one day!... Hopefully within the next week or so, as I'm coming back to Dorset this summer!

I have to agree with David Peters comments previously...
No where near as good as it was...
We enjoy our holiday here & wouldnt waste a chance visit to be disappointed again..

found this pub by pure chance. Loved the place, will be visiting soon with whe wife for a meal.

Wnderfull place. We stayed at the Countryman for a weekend.
Warm welcoming atmosphere, great staff, owners realy friendly, food excellent.

The previous reviewer must have been to a different pub. Tiresome, poor service from bar, over-priced mediocre food (£22.50 for filet steak). Has lost the plot since new management took over.
