Excellent atmosphere, great food - reasonably priced for such high quality, with a comprehensive wine list. The staff were so friendly and attentive which in itself is rare these days. My girlfriend has a beetroot allergy so mentioned she couldnt have the partridge dish - which was a shame as she loved partridge, the waitress mentioned this to the Chef who went out of his way to redesign the dish with different ingredients to suit her. She was so happy that he had done this and really enjoyed his modified version. All in all, we were made to feel very special. A week later she is still raving about the place (so I am in the good books for a little while longer)

I found the food to be very tasty although quite expensive for a "Pub". Staff appear to be to busy to care about customer satisfaction...ushered to table...staff could do with greeting customers with a SMILE!

We have eaten at this restaurant on three separate occasions over the last two years and on each occasion the service, food, and ambience were excellent. We always treat it as a special evening out as it is a bit of a distance for us to travel. The menu is varied and always leads to indecision until the order is placed as the choice is excellent and several meals will appeal to all.

saw this pub on anglia news because of the robbery, these people dont deserve that.knowing jamie olivers mum and dad owned it the curiosity got the better of me and it lokked like a nice pub on tele, so my partner and i decided to wait for my birthday to go there for a pub lunch. when we arrived we had a warm welcome by a young girl behind bar, we asked to see the bar menu when we looked at it it was out of our league so we had one drink and left, its a sham cause its a lovely pub, ita just a shame they dont slum it some times and just do burger and chips, the food was too posh and expensive for us, but thanks any way for the drink and warm welcome.

I have been slightly disapointed by The Cricketers on each of my three visits. The food was a little less good than I had expected, the service a little more brusque (and rather slower!) and the bill a little higher. Perhaps the 'celebrity chef aura' has made for unrealistic expectations, but whilst I cannot really complain about any aspect of my meal, the whole experience was unremarkable.

We happened upon this pub? during a mooch around Essex. We thought the ambience to good, the food delicious and the prices very reasonable. We intend to visit again in August in order to treat a friend who love seafood.

This place is an utter disgrace, it likes to trade of the back of a celebrity, offering foods at astronomical prices, and the staff are the rudest i have ever encountered, The lady with the brown hair, unbeleivable. I have been there twice, the first was on my aniversary , where my wife left in floods of tears when told them that we were still waiting for our food (1 hour for starters) and was told that they forgot the order, then we ordered the halibut and was so dry i left it and just asked for the bill, when i politley passed comments when i was asked how was my meal, i explained and was told, sorry chef cooked it fresh to tough!! Unreal, the golden rule in any resturant is that customer is always right, and was treated like utter shi*. Trevor oliver sat at the bar doing his accounts, didnt acknowledge us at all, just grunted at the woman to serve us. The second time, the same brown haired woman snapped at us when we explained to her that the table was too narrow for our freinds mum to get into, she said" well someone has to sit there", not a word to offer help or alternatives. Never again, in fact i was so pissed off that i have spent my lunch hour writing this comment, which i never done before in my life. Don't give them your money, the greedy rude arrogant prats.
