Best rates for a Local Hotel

Visited a friend in Ribchester intending to eat at the White Bull, upon parking our car we were accosted by a member of staff seemingly employed specifically to challenge anyone parking in their carpark as to our intent to frequent their pub. Their tone was such that we moved the car and ate at the excellent Ribchester Arms instead.

This is quite honestly the best restaurant I have ever been too. The food is so delicious and such good value for money. The proprietors, Kath and Chris are warm and welcoming. The place dating back to 1707 oozes history. I've been dining there regularly since Spring of 2007 and can't break the habit. I've worked my way through the menu and have never been disappointed. I've tried other well-established gastro-pubs in the area but compared to the White Bull they just don't measure up. It's been a struggle for Kath and Chris since they took over early 2007 but, having won several awards recently, they are attracting more visitors and are hopefully beginning to turn the corner. If you haven't been to the White Bull yet, give it a try.

I don't know what the other guy was thinking, this place is a true gem. I took my parents out to Ribchester for sunday lunch, we have been several times before and always had excellent food and service in a relaxed atmosphere. On sunday we tried the Sunday Special menu - three courses for £13!! Fantastic food at an absolute bargain. Highly recommended for a trip out, if teh sun is shining then sit out in the beer garden its peaceful and very welcoming.

Quality of cooking was good but value for money was not. My main course was scallops, I received three king scallops cut in half accompanied by peas, asparagus and blanched cauliflower florets plus a few potato throw-aways. Not value for £14. I ordered the "Specials" starter of black pudding and leek terrine. I did not receive it, instead I receiced the (I think) standard item of black pudding: two mini-moons,chicken cress(I ask you!) and a stale soft-boiled half egg. This little lot was an attrocious £5. My advise: bring your own pic-nic to Ribchester
