Good Points: Friendly, informal but businesslike, good beer and food, neither 'stuffy' nor too casual. Just right.
General review: Just right.

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit to this family-run hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the food we enjoyed in the restaurant was out of this world. (My fish dish was so fabulous that I have tried to recreate it at home since for a dinner party!) The room was clean, comfortable and affordable and the parking facilities were a blessing, as the village high street is a hard place to find space for a car. I can't wait to visit again

The 'modern' bedroom (No12) we had in the stable block was very small and very much overpriced at £80 for the night.
One side of the double bed is squeezed so tightly up again the wall that you cannot get around to that side of the bed, but have to climb across the bed to get in. The bed itself is a very low one (almost futon style)and gave you a claustrophobic feeling when lying in it. The head of the bed is tight up against the radiator and immediately below the window. There is inadequate space around the other two sides for two adults to comfortably pass each other. Nor is there any space for anyone to sit comfortably and relax. The cold water tap in the bathroom was extremely difficult to turn off. Finally, parts of the room were very dusty (especially the cloths press) and when the plug-in air freshener used in the room was overpowering and frankly unpleasant. We will not be returning.
