I booked this hotel due to the comments on there website about it being a 4 star hotel in a pictureesque village, however when we arrived there we had a rude awakening, then room was so small we vumped into each other when we passed each other. The food was good and the staff helpful when you needed any help, but we did have to stand and wait at teh bar if we wanted served as there was enver anyone behind it.
The town was dreadful, the people VERY unfriendly and it got so bad that we didnt even leave the hotel on out second night there due to how unwelcome we were made feel by the locals, we were even warned that it could turn to violence and i was knocked out of the way by someone in the ladies toilet.
I strongly recomend anyone who does not live in this area not to visit as they will not have a relaxing/romantic break

Good Points: nicely situated hotel in a lovely little market town
Bad Points: rooms need refurbished also very hot even with windows open as far as they would [half open ] breakfast not ready till 8.45 and checkout time too early in comparison to other hotels
General review: all in the stay was satisfactory all the staff were pleasant

It was Valentines Night? No Valentine decor, No rose for the Lady? One measly tea light on table? Ohh we did receive a complementary glass of wine! No spoon for soup! Offered to replace soup as there was a cream love heart which i thought ohh they at least tried! but soup was lovely even with the cream maybe they thought i was on a diet? Main course came No Vegetables? Not too healthy then? Waited to order desert about half an hour(cheese board and cheesecake ordered) finally another half an hour later Dessert!!! Meal was ok but nothing to write home about the chicken on the menu described haggis fritter No just haggis on the plate or did chef forget about fritter part? Whisky Sauce also on menu had no taste whatsoever! unfortunately will not be back as certainly not impressed! Did make another laughable night though!

Good Points: ROOM AND FACILITIES, FRIENDLY STAFF,
Bad Points: NOTHING REALLY, AT LEAST AS GOOD AS ANY HOTEL WE HAVE STAYED WITH.
General Review: WE LIKED THE LOCATION, PLENTY OF CAR PARKING. THE LAY OUT OF THE LOUNGE/DINING ROOM/ BAR WAS COMPACT YET SPACIOUS. WE DID NOT DINE IN THE HOTEL, (NOT FOR ANY REASON) SO CANNOT COMMENT ON FOOD, BUT THE BAR SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT.

Good Points: The room was very well equipped, well furnished and clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was fresh and clean.
Bad Points: A larger room would have been nice but not essential.
General Review: The meal served in the Conservatory Restaurant which we had one evening during our stay was excellent and good value but we were slightly disappointed with the Breakfast that we were served. The porridge was thick and lumpy and the poached eggs were overcooked. The full breakfast did not appear to have been freshly made but seemed to have been left to bake for a while.
