Very slow service as they obviously overbooked We have been before for a weekday lunch, and the service was better then. Menu - I am veggie and there are no veggie main courses on the menu, which looks as if it hasn't been changed in years. I was offered the same veggie options as on the previous visit which was more than 1 year ago. The portions are much too big - both veggie and meat mains and the side dishes. You have to have a side dish as the mains (mneat) does not come with vegetables.

I can't believe some of those reviews. I dined alfresco in the delightful garden. The meal was superb. The service impeccable.. What a delight to meet the ex-marine owner and his charming daughter. Real Olde Worlde hospitality.

I am hoping to return to the Withies Inn for my wife's 50th birthday this December 2007. In 2005, our whole family experience was fantastic in all ways... not easy with young teenage and older children and retired members of our extended family. Everyone was over the moon. The food and service were second to none. Indeed,in a contrary manner, I am reminded of an evening at a very famous London restaurant where a waiter "threw" a pat of butter on my suit trousers ( I was inside them of course ) and used my own fork to "stab" my knee whilst attempting to retreive the little devil. Thats what I call service with a grimace !! Not my experience of the Withies Inn... Just thought I would add all this as I was shocked reading the review before this one which was, at least, condemnatory of the Withies Inn. Couldn't, can't believe it !!

A very over-rated and over-priced country pub. Their prices are far too high for the 1970s style food that you receive..if you receive it? The waiters are rude. Quality of the food is poor. They have an over-inflated imagine of themselves..they are a tiny pub in the middle of nowhere. Very old fashioned, stale dining area and not at all suitable for anyone over 5ft tall. My first and last visit i'm afraid to say.
